Powerule
Emerging from the underground scene of New York City in the late 1980s, POWERULE is a pioneering Hip-Hop collective that helped bring the Nuyorican voice to East Coast rap. Known for raw lyricism, boom-bap beats, and authentic street storytelling, the group quickly built a reputation during Hip-Hop’s golden era. Their rising buzz led to a deal with Interscope Records, where they released their 1991 debut album Volume 1, blending classic New York Hip-Hop with Latin influences. Their music and presence reached national audiences through platforms connected to BET and MTV. Along the way, POWERULE collaborated with respected figures like Large Professor and Leaders of the New School. As early Latino voices in rap, they helped pave the way for artists such as Fat Joe and Big Pun, leaving a lasting mark on Hip-Hop culture.
